Hotel SKS Grand Palace

SKS Grand Palace Vrindavan, is an absolute RIPOFF. We were charged Rs.6000/- plus tax Rs.720/- for a double deluxe room without bf. Delhi 4 star hotel rate for half the facilities !!! They push for advance directly to the hotel account ( no credit card). On landing, to our shock, we found rack rate was Rs.3500/- for same day. Googling on the hotel's website showed plunge pricing as low as Rs.2250/- and peak Rs.6000/ plus for suckers like me. When I protested, response was this is Marketing policy and they were not authorized to give any solution. Nice bureaucratic reply, brooking no question! :-) We all understand dynamic pricing like airlines do for time-expiry products and services. But the sheer effrontery and brazenness for this kind of predatory pricing, was shocking. Location is a bit convenient, since it is between Mathura and Vrindavan. But highway noise can be heard through thin walls. No temples, shops or eating joints anywhere near walking distance. STRATEGIC! Room was clean, and so was the bathroom. Restaurant decor a bit loud. Food tasty and generous portions that were overpriced for the place. Shikha at reception was kind and helpful in advising about places to visit. Scheduled checkout being 11 am, I requested an extension of 2-3 hours. One gentleman agreed to give 1 hour, which another tried to reduce by 30 minutes! RULES :-)They reluctantly agreed for 12 noon. After being overcharged almost double, this left a bitter taste in the mouth. I made sure that we were out on the dot. SKS Grand Palace owners and management have a successful operation. Due to size and location, it can attract ignorant guests, ONCE. I think they count on the fact there will be a perennial supply of unsuspecting NEW victims whom they can merrily overcharge and give grudging arrogant service. Will NOT set foot in SKS Grand Palace again for love or money. All similar victims may record their experiences. Best of luck in getting repeat business!!
