Royal Solaris Cancun-All Inclusive

1. Extremely unfriendly, slow and impatient staff. They hated to be there serving us. For example, the hotel did not provide a self serve coffee machine so you will have to ask the staff to bring you coffee. That was a very challenging task - after we sat down after waiting in the line, we had to wave very hard or walk to a staff to provide us coffee. There was one time where we got a response that we needed to wait for our waiter who never showed up. So we had to wait for our coffee every morning after begging multiple times. Sometimes I just went up to their station and poured coffee myself and got eye rolled from the staff. The hotel had a coffee bar which served coffee in the afternoon with alcohol. When I went up and ask the staff on 12/28/2023 (if the hotel manager can see this, I think this staff needs training) if I could get a coffee without alcohol. This staff simply said in an arrogant way that she only had alcohol and if I wanted just a coffee, I need to go the main cafeteria and ask for one but the cafeteria not open till 6pm. 2. Food was very bad and there is always a line to get seated or get fresh egg/pasta. I went outside the hotel to eat. This comment applies to both the main cafeteria and the restaurants that you need to reserve in advance. 3. The hotel had one main cafeteria for breakfast and dinner, another small area for lunch next to the pool all with limited time window. For any other time if you would like to have food, you either order room service which was also disgusting, or grab pizza/sushi next to the pool which was also limited time. I had waited for an hour to get pizza during lunch which was a bad idea. 4. They allow smokers next to the pool area. 5. Terrible sound proof that I can hear all conversations of the family next door, kids shouting in the hallway. 6. Room phone rang randomly only during sleeping hours so we just pulled phone line. 7. Facility very old.

Concierge staff where predators trying to upsell the hotels membership. We arrived late and tired from the airport and our assigned concierge decided it was a good idea to hold us for what seemed forever with his overpriced sales pitch. He was making magic mathematics trying to make his overly expensive tours seem cheap and ended in all of these if you commit to a membership. I dont mind they trying to make a living but not at the cost of making us feel hostage until we bought something. We decided to cut the sales pitch short in order to go up to our rooms to rest. The concierge got mad at us for not buying his membership. He reluctantly allowed us to go up to our rooms to rest (ridiculous, I know). Next morning I got called from the front desk because they had forgotten to give me my welcome gift. Turns out it was another concierge trying to sell me stuff again, since I hadnt bought nothing the day before. Whenever we would ask a different concierge for directions, it would immediately turn into another sales pitch. We felt like we had to walk the hallways hiding from the concierge staff because we felt preyed upon. A few short minutes after our checkout a staff member apologized to us for the concierge staffs behavior (She had seen my review on TripAdvisor). She was nice and claimed the concierges where from a different company. This seems weird since what they are trying to shove up your nose is the hotels very own membership. The one time we where waiting for our hotel pickup, from an independent tour operator, a hotel staff member came over asking who did we buy our tour from and asking why we hadnt bought from them He claimed we where not allowed to take tours from another operator that wasnt theirs. Very much scammy and suspicious. We marked all our restaurant reservations as a birthday occasion and it was never honored. Even after reminding the staff verbally. Jaime at Bogavante restaurante gave us terrible service.
