Superb

Wonderful stay in a cosy corner that could become epic if only we had proper heating in the room.

Our stay at Barfung Retreat had been great. We stayed in one of their suites. The rooms were huge, so was the balcony. The surroundings were calm and quite giving us the much needed respite to rejuvenate ourselves. The decor and facilities were wonderful and so was the food. The kitchen staff were very accommodating and followed our special cooking requirements

The only factor that got this place a lower rating in comfort and facility was the absence of proper heating. There was a nice fireplace but they could not set it up. Neither could they provide an adequate electric heater. The only heating they could provide was a very small hot air blower for the huge room.

Disappointing

Disappointing Memories

The remote area of the property away from the city which we wanted. But......

There is no professional chef. Just a local boy who has no idea about menu. The breakfast was not good. Simple item like Poha was also overcooked with no taste. Evening dinner was also not good. But the maintenance of the property is poor. Some of the rooms were clean and some weren't. The blankets should have inner bedsheets which can be washed after every use. But there were no bedsheets under the blankets. It was very cold so we couldn't discard the blankets. So it lacked hygiene and we were not happy using those used blankets on our body. Also what shocked me the most was that, after having booked rooms with breakfast, I was told at the property that our plan is without breakfast!!! Luckily I had WhatsApp conversation proof with the sales team. If not for that, I would have had tough time to settle the matter. In the entire of the tour this was the only place which was disappointing for us.

The hotel is a lovely respite from dusty Ravangla, but also an easy taxi ride to and from the nearby sites. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Walks near the hotel were a peaceful diversion. A great place to stay.

The property was very good location wise if you want absolute peace and only the sound of nature to accompany you. It is best to stock up on essentials because the nearest store is 20-25 minutes by car. The property was clean and the room we stayed in was huge with a big balcony where it seemed like we are in the middle of the jungle. The staff and the manager Mr Dinesh Thapa were very cordial and co-operative to our every request.

The food at the property though homely and tasty is a bit overpriced. That would be my only complaint of this property.

Exceptional

Beautiful property with lovely rooms spread across a large, green, hilly area. Perfect for travellers who want to stay away from the bustle of the market area but have it still be close and easily accessible. The staff is lovely, efficient and incredibly polite. We particularly enjoyed the view and local food! Highly recommend!
