Purna Wildlife Sanctuary, Saputara Overview

Located 60km from Saputara, Gujarat, Purna Sanctuary is a part of the lush green forests of northern Dang. It has been recorded as the forest with the highest average rainfall in this region. During the Mughal period, wild bears, sloths bear, rhinoceros etc. have been found roaming around this region.

Now, it is an abode for leopards, rhesus macaque, bonnet macaque, common mongoose, Indian civet cat, porcupine, four-horned antelope and much other fauna. It is also home to around seven thousand species of plants. This is a great spot for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. As the sun sets, the distant voice of engaging tribal folk music and gurgling of rivers Gira and Purna add to the ambience. To enter inside the Purna Sanctuary, special permission is required like most sanctuaries and reserved areas.
