Kashid lies about 140 km south of Mumbai on the Konkan coast, roughly a three-hour drive past Alibaug. Its beach stands out among Konkan's mostly grey-sand coastline for its 3 km stretch of white sand, backed by casuarina and coconut groves rather than the crowds that fill Alibaug on weekends. The Murud-Janjira sea fort is about 20 km further south, an easy half-day addition, and the Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary nearby adds a forest walk to an otherwise beach-only itinerary. Kashid has fewer hotels and a slower pace than the larger Konkan beach towns, making it better suited to travellers who want a quiet stretch of sand over a lively beach scene.

Recently, a lot of small, cheap but absolutely delicious shacks have opened up on the north end of the beach - they serve excellent Konkani chicken/mutton/seafood. A lot of homestays dotted along the beachline also serve simple and tasty homemade food.

Do remember that you wouldn't find any bars next to the beach - the only place where you can buy liquor is a small shop around 4 km south of Kashid (towards Murud). You might find the shop closed because of the Highway Liquor Ban. None of the restaurants next to the beach serves alcohol, although a few might allow you to carry your own and drink while eating.
